Guided morning trip on Helsinki area natural ice
Helsinki offers a wonderful setting for Nordic skating - nothing like that can be found in any other capital in the world. The best skating areas in Helsinki are found near Vuosaari. The sunrise is the golden time of touring skating.
On this trip you can skate on the natural ice with an experienced and trained guide and enjoy the peace of winter nature easily and safely. We will take a short lunch break for 2-3 hours in the scenic landscape.
Participation in the trip requires Nordic skating training and mandatory safety equipment pre-arranged (list of safety equipment below).
If you do not have touring skating training we recommend our
Nordic skating intro or Nordic skating education
What you need for the trip
It is advisable to dress depending on the weather. Layering can ensure that you are warm, and it is also possible to remove layers of clothes if necessary. We recommend the underlay, wool or fleece jacket, windproof trousers and jacket, gloves and beanie. In addition to the mandatory safety equipment, it is advisable to pack warm drink and snacks in the backpack.
Location
The starting point is Kulttuurikeskus Sofia, Kallvikinniementie 35 B, 00980 Helsinki. You can leave your car in Kulttuurikeskus Sofia's parking. Walk behind the light brick house, turn left and proceed in the direction of the beach for about 50 m. There you will find the Helsingin retkiluistelu's premises, a toilet and a sheltered place to adjust equipment.
Please note that Nordic skating is always practiced under nature's conditions. Due to the circumstances, the place or time of departure may sometimes have to be moved.
